Package Itinerary
|
DAY 1: ARRIVE IN DELHI Upon arrival, receive assistance at the airport and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, proceed for a city tour of Old and New Delhi. Visit historic sites including: Red Fort, which contains exquisite Mughal palaces; Jama Masjid - the largest mosque in India; and Qutab Minar - a soaring tower of victory dating back to 1199 AD. Later, drive past Rashtrapati Bhavan, the residence of the President of India, Rajpath and India Gate. Stay overnight at the hotel. Meals:
DAY 2 DELHI - LEH (1 HOUR 30 MINUTES BY FLIGHT) Upon arrival, receive assistance at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Enjoy the morning at leisure. Lunch will be served at 2.00 PM, and after lunch, visit Leh Market, Leh Palace, the Hall of Fame and Shanti Stupa. Stay overnight at the hotel. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
DAY 3: LEH - LAMAYURU - ULE (160 KM/4-5 HOURS) In the morning, drive to Lamayuru, the oldest monastery in Ladkah region. The exotic location of this monastery - perched atop a hill after crossing a narrow gorge - gives the feeling of being on the moon to its visitors. En-route, visit the Liker Monastery and Gurudwara Pathar Sahib. Upon arrival in Ule, check-in to the camp. Later, visit the mesmerizing moon landscapes and the Lamayuru monastery. In the evening return to the camp, and stay overnight. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
DAY 4: ALCHI - LEH (70 KM/3 HOURS) In the morning, transfer to Leh, and en-route visit the Alchi Monastery - a World Heritage Site that is famous for its beautiful frescos. Also see Basgo Palace and the Sangam (confluence) of the Zanskar & Indus Rivers en-route. Upon arrival in Leh, check-in to the hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Stay overnight at the hotel. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
DAY 5: LEH TO PANGONG LAKE (160 KM/4-5 HOURS) In the morning, transfer to Pangong Lake. Located at an altitude of 14,500 ft, Pangong is the second highest camping ground in the world. The journey will pass through the Changla Pass, which at 17,800 feet is the third highest-motorable road in the world. Enjoy the beautiful vistas of the surroundings and the ever-changing colors of the lake. Stay overnight at the camp. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
DAY 6: PANGONG LAKE TO LEH (160 KM/4-5 HOURS) In the morning, drive back to Leh, and en-route visit the Hemis Monastery - one of the most famous of the monasteries in Ladakh, belonging to the Drukpa order. Later, visit Thikse Monastery, famous for its 3-storey statue of Maitreya Buddha, before visiting Shey Palace, the erstwhile residence of the rulers of Ladakh. Stay overnight at the hotel. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
DAY 7: LEH - KHARDONGLA - LEH (58 KM/2 HOURS) In the morning, drive to Khardongla Pass, which is the world's highest-motorable road at 18380 feet. Return to Leh in the afternoon, where hot lunch will be provided at the hotel. Rest of the day is at your disposal to explore the local markets. Stay overnight at the hotel. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
DAY 8: DEPART FROM LEH In the morning, transfer to airport in time to board the flight to Delhi. Upon arrival in Delhi, receive assistance at the airport to board the onward flight. Meals: Breakfast
